FRPD was contracted by Skylink Guideway Partners to install driven piles for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain (SLS) guideway. The work provided the deep foundation system for multiple guideway piers along the new elevated rapid transit alignment.

Problem

The elevated guideway required a sequence of telescopic steel piles of varying diameters and lengths, installed with strict positional accuracy to support future pier construction. Crews needed to work across multiple dispersed pier locations, mobilizing equipment from pier to pier while maintaining efficient production rates. Each pile required full cleanout, reinforcing steel installation and concrete placement in order to meet structural specifications.

Solution

FRPD delivered the complete driven piling program for the SLS guideway. Crews installed telescopic piles at 24 pier locations, performed cleanouts, placed rebar cages and completed concrete fills to create fully integrated structural foundations. Efficient pier-to-pier mobilization ensured continuity of work and minimized downtime along the alignment.

Key Facts
  • Installed telescopic guideway pier piles of various diameters and lengths
  • Performed pile cleanouts to prepare shafts for reinforcement and concrete
  • Installed rebar cages to meet structural design requirements
  • Executed concrete placement within each pile to complete structural capacity
  • Conducted pier-to-pier mobilizations along the guideway to maintain production and schedule

FRPD’s driven piling program established the deep foundation system for the SLS guideway, supporting the construction of new elevated transit infrastructure for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension.
