About FRPD
FRPD is one of Canada’s largest marine and heavy civil infrastructure contractors.
From dredging navigation channels to building critical infrastructure and restoring sensitive environments, we deliver complex projects across Canada.
Our approach strives to combine close client partnerships with deep experience to create innovative, cost-effective solutions for every challenge.
Our fleet is one of the most versatile in Canada. We operate trailing suction hopper dredges, cutter suction dredges, marine derricks, material barges, dump scows and an extensive range of support equipment. This diversity allows us to scale from small maintenance projects to large capital works, matching the right equipment to each project’s specific demands.
FRPD’s roots reach back to 1911 with the founding of Fraser River Pile Driving Company. Incorporated as Fraser River Pile & Dredge (GP) Inc. in Alberta in 2008 and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Bird Construction, FRPD is a leader in marine construction, land foundations and dredging.

Environmental Policy
We protect the environment through sustainable practices that meet or exceed regulatory requirements, ensuring our work benefits both present and future generations.
Our teams bring extensive experience in identifying and mitigating potential impacts to upland and aquatic environments, continuously integrating new technologies into our operations. Construction Environmental Management Plans undergo rigorous audits to ensure full compliance.
We help clients navigate complex environmental review processes. This includes routinely securing required permits for maintenance and capital works and working within the Disposal at Sea program administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada. From sediment sampling through permit applications, dredging execution and final closure reporting, we fulfill every aspect of the regulatory process.
Since 2012, FRPD has been a member of the Climate Smart Program, actively tracking emissions and developing reduction strategies as part of our ongoing environmental stewardship

FRPD offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits in a results-oriented, progressive and creative team environment.
FRPD in the Community
FRPD is proud to invest in the communities where we live and work. Our support of local initiatives reflects our ongoing commitment to community strength and connection. Here are some of the community groups we have supported with funding over the past few years.
