Expertise backed by one of Canada’s largest dredging fleets.

From channel maintenance on the Fraser River to capital dredging for new terminals and environmental remediation projects, FRPD has successfully delivered some of the largest dredging works on the West Coast.

This extensive dredging experience is supported by one of the most diverse fleets on the West Coast. We partner with clients to deliver cost-effective dredging solutions, whether removing 500 cubic metres by clamshell dredge or 5,000,000 cubic metres by our trailing suction hopper dredge.

Our dredging services span:

  • Channel and facility maintenance
  • Capital works
  • Environmental remediation projects
  • Sand supply and beneficial reuse

Our fleet includes trailing suction hopper dredges, cutter suction dredges and clamshell dredges, supported by split hopper barges, flat barges and tending vessels. With this versatility, we match the right equipment to each project’s needs.

Maintenance Dredging

Keeping navigation channels and facilities open year-round
FRPD is currently engaged in a multi-year Navigation Channel Dredging Contract for the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, covering the lower 34 kilometres of the Fraser River’s deep-sea navigation channel, as well as approaches and berths at Fraser Surrey Docks.

We also provide annual maintenance dredging for marine operating facilities along the Fraser River, Burrard Inlet and the Strait of Georgia. Many of these facilities rely on maintenance of critical depths for vessel access. With clamshell dredging programs, we ensure safe, reliable year-round operations for our clients.

Construction Aggregate & Sand Supply

Beneficial reuse of dredged material
Each year, the Rockies and Coastal Mountains spring melt brings three to four million cubic metres of fresh sand to the Fraser River. Through our channel maintenance program, FRPD captures this renewable resource and transforms it into a valuable material stream.

We supply dredged sand to:

  • Property developers
  • Infrastructure projects
  • Sand vendors

Applications include preload fills, land reclamation, habitat enhancement and general fill. With our FRPD 309 trailing suction hopper dredge, sand can be hydraulically placed directly at project sites, reducing truck traffic and accelerating schedules. This unique service not only maximizes the beneficial use of dredged material but also lowers costs and environmental impacts.
