FRPD was contracted to install foundation piling for the new Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension at 203 Street.
The work provided critical support for future guideway and station infrastructure on this major rapid transit expansion.

Problem

The 203 Street station area required deep foundation support capable of carrying substantial structural loads for the elevated SkyTrain guideway and platforms. The design called for large-diameter steel piles installed with precise tolerances in variable soils. Before full production could begin, test piles and load testing were required to confirm capacity and refine installation methods.

Solution

FRPD delivered the complete demolition and replacement program.
Crews removed and disposed of the existing timber structure and constructed a new pile-supported breakwater featuring large-diameter pile foundations, guide sleeves, precast components and cast-in-place concrete elements.

Key Facts
  • Installed test piles to verify design assumptions and soil performance
  • Performed static load testing to confirm pile capacity and optimize installation methods
  • Installed 84 station piles, each 914-mm diameter, for the 203 Street SkyTrain station

FRPD’s piling work provided the structural foundation for the new Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension, ensuring long-term stability and supporting the successful delivery of this major regional transit project.
