Welding Superintendent

Fraser River Pile & Dredge (GP) Inc. (FRPD) is Canada’s largest Marine & Infrastructure, Land Foundations and Dredging contractor. The company is privately owned with operations mainly in Western Canada and the Northwest Territories.

We are looking for a candidate who wants to be part of the FRPD team. The successful candidate will need to be a holder of the CWB Welding Supervisor’s Certificate, worked in the field of weld and have a minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.

Primary functions:

  • Responsible for company-wide weld quality control (develop and maintain a QC system for all FRPD site welding operations)
    • All administrative tasks as it pertains to CWB and welding quality controls and documentation
    • Support sites in weld inspection and quality control
    • Conduct weld inspections on site when needed
    • Auditing all sites to ensure FRPD is maintaining CWB compliance and optimizing weld production
    • Working with CWB to maintain FRPD’s CWB certification, compliance and audits
  • Supervision/Production control of FRPD’s welding bed operation in our New Westminster yard
  • Maintain a data base providing production rates and costs associated with the welding bed
  • Assist in the development/cataloguing and continual advancement of welding procedures
  • Research and development of welding technology to increase company productivity
  • Mentorship and training of welders when new technology is being introduced
  • Maintain open communications with management, construction staff and crews

Education/Experience:

  • CWB Welding Supervisors Certificate required
  • Full knowledge of the W59.13 & W47.1 CSA Welding Standards
  • 5 years’ experience in a leadership role

Special Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the construction welding trades
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Holder of a level 1 first aid certificate (FRPD will provide training)
