Construction Superintendent

This is an entry level to intermediate position requiring some experience in pile driving operations and previous exposure to marine construction operations. Clamshell dredging would complement the ideal candidate’s experience.

We are currently seeking a Construction Superintendent with a general understanding of pile driving, land foundation work and marine equipment operation to supervise day to day field operations to ensure that projects are completed in a safe and efficient manner. Based out of our head-office and with extensive out of town travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within project teams in accordance with company Health & Safety and Quality Control Plans
  • Delegate work to field staff, subcontractors and trades people in accordance with project plans & designs
  • Work closely with equipment and yard staff to efficiently schedule the maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Drive the construction schedule to ensure project milestones and completion dates are met
  • Work with project team to issue material requisitions & confirm safe delivery to site for incorporation into the work
  • Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support project progression
  • Maintain thorough daily reports accurately tracking site progress, events, inspections, and other relevant information

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Trades or Technical training in a marine industry-related trade certification and/or education program
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy construction industry including some supervisory experience
  • Solid working ability to read building plans & specifications in order to facilitate construction activities
  • Clear communication skills enabling collaboration with project stakeholders to interpret needs & identify solutions
  • Strong understanding of various structural products including timber, concrete & rolled steel sections
  • Working knowledge of industry standard health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures
  • Skilled at functioning well within project teams to reach collaborative outcomes
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
